Can charter fishing boats only take six people ?
USCG rules state that any unlicensed charter fishing boat can take up to six people out on a for hire charter. Does not matter if it a row boat or 120 foot yacht. In order to take more than six people the boat must be licensed and annually inspected by the USCG. Becoming a licensed passenger vessel is very difficult and has a price tag of about a million dollars. That is why there are so few charter fishing boats that can take the larger groups. Our 57 “Spellbound” is USCG licensed for up to 27 Passengers.
Some charter companies guarantee fish, do you?
We all know there are very few guarantees in life, and fishing is no exception. Some charter companies will use this deceptive claim in order to lure clients. What they fail to tell you, is what type of fish that satisfies their claim as bait fish count as part of your catch. No reputable operation will guarantee you any specific catch, although we will guarantee that we will try to make that great catch every day. With all of the different fishing opportunities, it is a very rare day that we would not catch a fish
