Lobster Diving in Miami, FL
Lobster Diving on the Spellbound this week. The Annual opening to the lobster season starts on a Wednesday with “Mini Season” . This is a two day season for only recreational divers to go out and catch Florida Lobsters before the commercial lobster fishermen set their traps. Season opens for all recreational diving and commercial harvest on August 6th.
We closed the boat up for a “Mental Health” day and took the crew and a few close friends out diving. It was great to get in the water after a long hot season of Deep Sea Fishing. The day was about just cooling off and enjoying the silence and scenery on the bottom of the reef & spending some “Fun time” with friends.
Lobster Diving… Yummy Dinner!
The highlight of the day was spending a great afternoon with friends but the icing on the cake was catching enough lobsters for every one to have a meal. A few cool inverts for the fish tank and a fish or two for dinner. A special thanks to Capt. Manny and the great crew of the spellbound for putting together a fun day. All the guys are a great team and was nice of them to pitch in on a fun day out. Thanks to all from Capt. Jay !

Capt. Jay owns and operates the Miami fishing charter Capt. Jay’s Deep Sea Fishing. Capt. Jay has fished Miami for more than 40 years and holds several I.G.F.A world records and has won multiple tournaments, including the METT tournament and the fun fish boat in the Miami Billfish tournament. Capt. Jay discovered a new species of tilefish and had the honor of naming the fish (Bahama Tiger Tilefish).
